Mr. Dirienzo is a Principal of ESI. and one of its senior engineers.  Since co-founding the firm in 1988, Mr. Dirienzo has been responsible for project management, engineering design, field surveys and analysis on many of the diverse projects in hospitals, labs, office buildings and private industry.

Over his career, Mr. Dirienzo has specialized in evaluation and design of critical facilities mechanical infrastructure, particularly health care and laboratory facilities.  Much of this work has involved considerable field work, troubleshooting, and close involvement with Facilities Management personnel.  Experience gained in this work has proved invaluable in the design of reliable, energy efficient mechanical systems for critical facilities.  Mr. Dirienzo has also developed considerable expertise in central chiller plant design and optimization, controls, design/application of custom air handling systems, including air and water side heat recovery applications.

Mr. Dirienzo holds a MSME from the University of Massachusetts. Mr. Dirienzo has also served as a part-time instructor for the course “Energy Conservation in Buildings” in Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Plant Engineering program.  He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American Solar Energy Society (ASES), American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA).
