Mr. Nelson has seventeen years of experience in design, engineering, construction, commissioning and operation of mechanical and electrical building systems.  Since joining ESI in 2001, Mr. Nelson has been responsible for project management, system analysis, project engineering, field survey and system commissioning.  Mr. Nelson’s attention to detail and expertise has been instrumental in helping our client’s achieve their building, construction and energy conservation goals and initiatives. 

Mr. Nelson has extensive experience in the design and optimization of large central chiller plants, heating plants, custom air handling systems, direct digital control systems and other mechanical systems.  The majority of Mr. Nelson’s system engineering and design work has been in existing critical facilities such as hospitals, laboratories and data centers where interruption of services is not acceptable.  Mr. Nelson works closely with ESI’s clients to ensure that our designs offer the lowest cost of ownership, are simple to maintain and operate to provide the best building environment.

Prior to joining ESI, Mr. Nelson was employed with Carrier Corporation where he served as Area Manager, Regional Systems Specialist and Sales Engineer.  In each of these roles, Mr. Nelson’s focus was to help clients design and build state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical systems including chilled water plants, direct digital control systems, heating plants, lighting systems, process water systems and air handling systems.  Additionally, Mr. Nelson helped his clients reduce energy & operational costs and obtain utility rebates.

Mr. Nelson was an adjunct instructor at Wentworth Institute of Technology for many years where he taught mechanical engineering courses on weekends.  He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
