Richard J. Dirienzo, P.E.

Mr. Dirienzo is a principal of Engineered Solutions Inc. and one of its senior engineers. Since co-founding the firm in 1988, Mr. Dirienzo has been responsible for project management, engineering design, field surveys and analysis on many diverse projects in hospitals, office buildings and private industry in the Boston area.

Prior to forming ESI, Mr. Dirienzo served as a Project Manager and Special Projects Engineer for HEC Inc. (formerly Hospital Efficiency Corp.), a shared-savings contractor specializing in energy conservation projects. At HEC, Mr. Dirienzo ws primarily responsible for identification of energy savings opportunities in client facilities, technical overview of hired consultants and installation contractors, and system design/troubleshooting for special projects. His projects included retrofit design of the thermal heat recovery systems on a 2.5 MW cogeneration plant at York Hospital in York, PA and project management of a $1,000,000 energy investment program at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA.

Before joining HEC, Mr. Dirienzo was employed at R.G. Vanderweil Engineers, Inc. in Boston, where his projects included project management and HVAC engineering for the design of a $25,000,000 Molecular Biology Research Building at Princeton University and a National Genetic Seed Cold Storage Facility in Beijing, China.

Mr. Dirienzo has also served as a part-time instructor for the course "Energy Conservation in Buildings" in Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Plant Engineering program. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American Solar Energy Society (ASES), and the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA).
