Controls Design

Knowledge of mechanical systems operations and awareness of the many benefits of efficient system operation makes it possible for ESI to provide expert design services for Automated Control Systems. Often initiated by a client's request for improved operating strategies, ESI has designed complete Building Automation Systems (BAS) which allows a facility to have central control and integration of a building's HVAC and Electrical systems. Many ESI HVAC design projects include concurrent design of a BAS. Making use of the most recent technology, Direct Digital Controls (DDC), ESI designs automation systems that allow an Owner and his operating staff to monitor, manage, and operate major mechanical systems, as well as to maximize occupant comfort and reduce operating costs.

The scope of an Automated Controls Design Project can range from analysis and retrofit of existing systems to designing new systems to replace existing conventional control systems. A new systems design package generally includes a project specification, complete with front-end documents. The comprehensive technical specification typically is comprised of hardware and software points, as well as a Sequence of Operations. Also included as part of the package are schematic diagrams reflecting the required systems components. ESI's design approach provides a controls system with a modular architecture that can easily accommodate future expansion and/or modification. Coordination of the contractor selection process, construction review, and start-up services are also provided by ESI as part of a controls design package.
