ESI provides commissioning services for new buildings and Retro-Commissioning services for existing buildings. This work is sometimes performed as part of a LEED certification program. The purpose of the commissioning work is to confirm that the building equipment is installed and operating as intended. The commissioning process often uncovers problems that generate comfort complaints or inefficienct operation (high utility bills). ESI’s commissioning work includes the following 3 steps:
Physical inspection – determine if there are any physical deficiencies with the existing equipment
Functional Inspection – confirm that the equipment components are in a functional state
Operational Inspection – confirm that the equipment operates as intended in coordination with related building systems. The operational inspection involves the collection of data over time to prove that the system is operating in coordination with other building systems.
